Key characteristics:

•  Form: Waterlily – fully double with cupped, overlapping petals that create a lush, peony-like appearance (curls up at night and reopens in the morning).

•  Bloom size: Around 5 inches (BB to A category).

•  Color: Vibrant deep magenta-pink to purple, often with delightful flecks, splashes, or variegation – some blooms solid, but most delightfully streaked or splashed for added drama.

•  Plant height: Typically 4–5 feet, productive with good stems.

•  Growth habits: Prolific bloomer, excellent for cut flowers (cups nicely, long vase life), and highly praised for its showiness in gardens and arrangements.

Hybridized and introduced in 2023 by Steve and Sandy Boley (U.S.-based breeders behind the popular “Sandia” series of dahlias, known for innovative and reliable varieties). It’s part of a lineup that includes siblings like Sandia Claire, Sandia Fluffy, and Sandia Comanche. Highly sought-after, often with purchase limits due to demand, and available from specialty farms like Triple Wren, Soaring Heart, and others.
